Jillian Gorski & Briana Roberts

Jillian Gorski Jill is a graduate of Belleville High School in Belleville, WI. Her plans at Pitt include majoring in Bioengineering. Jill was a National Merit Finalist and was on the A-honor Roll at Belleville in each of her 14 terms there. She also participated in the school's academic bowl team, math team, lettered in cross-country and track, volunteered her time as a Spanish teacher to elementary school children in her district,and was an assistant Sunday school teacher at her church.  

Briana Roberts

Briana Roberts is a graduate of Homestead High School in Milwaukee, WI. She will be attending the University of Pittsburgh with the intent of majoring in Engineering. Briana was a Milwaukee Public Library Teen Advisory Board Member, a member of the National Honor Society, was a student tutor, and has served on her yearbook staff. She is extremely passionate about community service and volunteerism and has given time to a variety of organizations including Incarnation Lutheran Church, Milwaukee Urban League, Imani Childcare, and Gathering on the Green. Briana would like to capitalize on the facilities at Pitt to conduct research and enhance her classroom experiences with practical hands-on experience.
2009

Tyler Hein & Sushma Kola

Tyler Hein

Tyler comes to the University of Pittsburgh as a graduate of Palatine High School in Palatine, IL. Tyler is a well-rounded student who plans to major in Biological Sciences in preparation for medical school. Tyler hopes to combine the knowledge gained in her studies with her strong interests in helping underserved individuals through opportunities with Doctors Without Borders. Throughout high school she was a member of her school's Drama Club, volunteered at a local mental health clinic, was a member of a variety of bands, and competed regularly in poetry slams.

Sushma Kola

Sushma graduated from the Illinois Math & Science Academy in the top 1% of her class. Sushma was captain of both her Science Olympiad team and tennis team, served as editor of both the school newspaper and math and science periodical, and spent time tutoring in writing, math, science, and humanities. While her educational direction is toward the sciences, she has a passion for humanities. Her plans are to major in Biological Sciences and will focus on preparing herself to attend medical school while also taking advantage of the many extracurricular opportunities at Pitt.

Maggie Tully & Michael Stuck

Maggie Tully

Maggie Tully will be headed to the University of Pittsburgh by way of Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, Illinois. Maggie has kept busy by being involved in athletics (soccer and basketball), service groups (Project Hope and the Key Club), and leadership activities (being a student mentor, leading her school's debate team). Maggie hopes to gain exposure to diverse cultures and communities through her Pitt experience by majoring in Anthropology and studying abroad. She hopes to be able to use her education and experiences to increase HIV/AIDS awareness in impoverished countries, specifically through organizations that use sport as a means to reach those impacted by disease.

Michael Stück

Michael Stück graduated from Valparaiso High School in Valparaiso, Indiana ranked #8 in his class of 499 students. During high school, Michael tutored fellow students in Math, participated in theater crew, played trumpet in the Jazz Band, and was a member of the National Honors Society. In addition to his achievements in school, Michael has traveled to New Orleans, Guatemala, and Ecuador to conduct community service projects. While at Pitt, Michael plans on majoring in Engineering with minors in Math and Spanish in order to help him towards his goal of helping impoverished people in developing countries by providing clean drinking water and electricity.

Allyson Barnett & Daniel Tully

Allyson Barnett

Allyson Barnett is a graduate of Cary-Grove High School in Cary, IL where she graduated first in her class of 460. Allyson was a member of the Marching Band, Math Team, and French Club. Allyson has volunteered through the Interact Service Club, Girl Scouts, the local Library, and her Church. Her plans at Pitt are to major in both Art History and French and to participate in the University Honors College.

Daniel Tully

Daniel Tully is a graduate of Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, IL where he graduated at the top of his class. Daniel served as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and as a coordinator for food and clothing drives.  Additionally, through Project Hope, a school service organization, Daniel served as a coordinator for many community projects and served as a Eucharistic Minister at his church for the past four years. He plans to major in both Political Science and Business and will participate in the University Honors College.

Aileen Hall & Meredith Hanrahan

Aileen Hall Aileen Hall is a graduate of University of Chicago Laboratory High School in Hyde Park. She was co-captain of her soccer team, Vice-President of the Big Sisters Club, and on the executive board for the non-profit organization Her Voice, a service group in her school and community. While at Pitt, she wants to major in Neuroscience and attend classes through the University Honors College.
 Meredith Hanrahan

Meredith Hanrahan is a graduate of Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park. She participated in cross-country, track, and soccer. She was also a member of Student Council, the National Honor Society, her school’s Symphony Orchestra, and captained her school’s Mathletes Team. She has done volunteer work for the Ovarian Cancer Benefit, Children’s Farm, and her church. Her plans are to major in Business and Accounting and she will participate in the University Honors College.

2005

Raj Patel

Raj Patel Raj Patel is a graduate of Libertyville High School.  Raj is a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and enjoys playing the violin.  He was actively involved as a hospital volunteer, a writing tutor, and worked as a safety instructor for young children in the summer.  He plans to major in biochemistry and gain acceptance into Pitt's M.D. program.
